Sophomore Year - Fall 2014
Pocket Park
Project Description:
The first portion of this assignment was to create a screen based on a "kit of parts". Students were asked to look at tectonics of the street and design a screen based on the tectonics. From there, students were asked to design a green alley, or pocket park, that could connect to the coffeehouse next door.
Project Concept:
My pocket park focused on the idea of the erosion of man made material. There were three zones in the park in which each zone less man made material would be present. The entrance zone has a doorway that leads into the coffeehouse with many concrete seating, while the end of the park has only a sidewalk with a tree. The reason for this erosion was to reconcile the city and nature. The screens that divided each zone also had less parts to it as you went further along.
